Saturated, magenta red blooms. Plant in clumps for a massive and impressive display. Blooms open early to mid season.

Potted perfection! Bokassa Tulips are our premium range for potting. We have carefully selected varieties with compact foliage and flowers of medium height; these attributes lend perfectly to containers or small garden plantings.

Our Tip: plant annuals atop the pot when you plant your bulbs. Annuals on top will give you instant colour and will also serve as a reminder to water your pot over winter - it can be easy to neglect a pot that has nothing above the soil and if the bulbs dry out during growth, they could flower short or not open at all. (Potting mix is perfectly drained so should be watered weekly in winter and increase frequency as the weather warms). Suggestions in clued Pansies/Bellis/Erysimum/Primulas/Violas/Forget-Me-Nots.

Another great idea when potting bulbs is to layer smaller bulbs on top, to form a 'bulb lasagne'. Choices such as Spring Star Flowers, Miniature Daffodils or Grape Hyacinths will extend the show, soften the edges of the container and add to the colour.

Our Tip: Plant the flat side of the tulip bulb towards the edge of the pot, this is where the first leaf will spring from and it will work to soften the edges. Plant them closely together for the best looking display. Leave around 2cm of space between the top of the pot and the potting mix.

Of course, you shouldn't limit yourself to just pots, they also grow well in the garden.

Tulips may have a reputation for being `Prima Donnas' but in most cases this is undeserved. When you buy a bulb, the flower is already pre-formed, ready to bloom. All you need to do is plant them into well drained soil in a sunny spot, water and enjoy the show.

A simple way to remember when to plant your tulips is around Mother`s Day. It doesn't have to be on the day, it just serves as an easy marker. The timing is ideal as the soil has generally cooled sufficiently for planting and the really hot autumn days are usually done and dusted.

All our bulbs are ready to grow; they do not need to be chilled, which is one less thing to do.

IN POTS:
This is our recommendation for the best display, keeping in mind bulbs look best when planted nice and close together.

14cm/6" = 3 bulbs
20cm/8" = 6 bulbs
25cm/10" = 9 bulbs
